Do you have a student who lateralizes /s/ and also lateralizes lots of other sounds, like (dg, ch, s blends, s, z, sh, dr, tr)? Correcting lateral speech errors with success using my Lateral Lisp Program will help kick those stubborn lateral errors to the curb once and for all!
I met a student at the middle school for the first time right after becoming a bright and shiny new SLP (after my CFY year, you know the feeling). She was the most well-mannered and kind student, and she lateralized everything. I mean /ch, dg, s, z, tr, dr, s blends/ the works! I assessed her and gave her 1.5 million words to repeat to see where we stood. It wasn’t good, and she was already 11. My heart sank-what in the world was I going to do about all of these errors? I cried when she left my therapy room, already feeling defeated.
Fortunately, I didn’t give up and was determined to help her! So that’s how this entire therapy program was born.
We went back to the beginning to establish the /t/ sound, and from there, we worked so hard to tackle each lateral sound until we had conquered every one of them on the list. It was hard, but she was motivated, mature, and ready to graduate from speech! I compiled every trick, tool, and target we used for her success, and that’s how my Lateral Lisp Complete Program was born. I even added activities later to keep my students interested in therapy. So if you and your students struggle to correct lateralized sounds, this is the program you need in your therapy toolbox.
There is even a free sample if you want to try it to help your student who may be lateralizing /ch/, and you can download it here.
Do you currently have any kiddos that lateralize? Let me know!
